LAFAYETTE - After multiple shows were canceled amid dozens of sexual assault allegations, Bill Cosby stepped on stage at the Heymann Center in Lafayette Friday night.

Media was not allowed to film his show, but plenty of fans were there for his support.

"I've always been a fan; I grew up watching the Cosby show and I just wanted to come out and see his act," said Emily Hebert.

"It's Bill Cosby! What can we say!" said Sylvia DeVille.

Prior to him taking the state, Cosby released a statement that said he's "far from finished."

"For 53 years you have given me your love, support, respect and trust. Thank you! I can't wait to see your smiling faces and warm your hearts with a wonderful gift -- LAUGHTER. I'm ready!

"I thank you, the theatre staff (Heymann Performing Arts Center), the event organizers and the Lafayette Community for your continued support and coming to experience family, fun entertainment," Cosby said. "Hey, Hey, Hey -- I'm far from finished."

Friday, Cosby's attorneys asked a federal judge to dismiss a defamation lawsuit filed by three people who accuse him of decades-old sexual offenses. Fifteen women say there were assaulted by him.

The box office would not release how many tickets had been sold other than "quite a few."  Pictures from audience goers on social media showed quite a few empty seats.

Cosby performs in Augusta, GA, Saturday night.
