Baton Rouge man gunned down in front of house
BATON ROUGE - People who knew Eddie Simon Jr., 24, are in shock after hearing of his murder.
The shooting happened close to 2:00 am Sunday morning, in the 2800 block of 73rd street.
Police said officers originally responded to the location for a traffic crash, but discovered Simon's body on the ground, with a gunshot to the head.
Authorities said Simon was standing in front of his house when the suspect walked up to him and starting shooting.
Simon was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.
"He spoke to everyone that he saw and if he could help you he would help you," said Rosie Duncan, who lives near Simon's house.
According to Simon's family, he had recently obtained his GED.
Police said the case is under investigation, but there are few details available on suspects or motives.
