Baker shooting suspect to be tried in adult court
BATON ROUGE - A juvenile court judge ruled Monday evening that the suspect in a triple murder in Baker can be tried as an adult.
Judge Kathleen Richey transferred Nakeydran Williams, 16, to district court where he'll be prosecuted on adult charges. The decision came after she heard testimony from witnesses and arguments from prosecutors and defense attorneys.
Williams is accused of opening fire at a birthday party in Baker last month, killing three other teens.
The shooting sparked community-wide discussions of violence and how to prevent further killings.
Williams will also be moved from juvenile detention to East Baton Rouge Parish Prison to await trial.
