Avoyelles escapees captured in Port Allen
PORT ALLEN - Two women out of Avoyelles Parish are now behind bars in West Baton Rouge.
28-year-old Lindsey Howell and 39-year-old Christie Theriot were on the run after escaping from Avoyelles Simmesport Women's Corrections Center. The women were taken into custody at a motel in Port Allen.
U.S. Marshals tracked the pair after they escaped through a back door late Friday night. Deputies believe they got away in a vehicle that was waiting for them. Two correctional officers have been placed on leave during the investigation, and the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's Office says more arrests are possible.
Howell sas serving time on forgery and terrorizing charges. Theriot, meanwhile, was behind bars for burglary, criminal damage to property and speeding.. In 2010, she was wanted for an armed robbery in Livingston Parish.
