Arrest made in deadly Ponchatoula crash
PONCHATOULA- A man has been arrested and charged with negligent homicide after a deadly crash last month.
Authorities said on August 29 a man identified as Justin Settoon had a green light and was crossing West Pine Street in the crosswalk on his bike. At the same time David Brunet was driving his Dodge pickup truck Eastbound on West Pine Street and failed to stop at the red light at the intersection of West Pine Street and South 8th Street.
Brunet’s truck was unable to stop and ended up hitting Settoon.
Settoon was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries the next day.
Brunet submitted a blood test which has been sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. Additional charges are pending while awaiting results from the blood test.
