Angola employee arrested after trying to transport drugs in sandwich
WEST FELICIANA PARISH - The State Department of Corrections arrested an Angola employee following a shakedown Sunday afternoon.
Investigators say 33-year-old Jeffery Day was caught at the front gates trying to bring in 4.8 ounces of marijuana and 3.6 grams of synthetic marijuana. The drugs were found hidden in a Subway sandwich inside of Day's vehicle.
Day, who had been an employee at the prison since November 2016, admitted the drugs were his and resigned from the Department.
Corrections officers notified the West Feliciana Parish Sheriff's Office who arrested and booked Day on charges of possession with the intent to distribute and malfeasance in office.
