All St. Landry schools offering free lunch until end of year

OPELOUSAS - Effective Tuesday, all schools in St. Landry Parish will offer breakfast and lunch at no charge to all students.
The school system has been in the Community Eligibility Provision for the 2016-2017 school year. At the beginning of the school year more than 20 schools were included in the program. Because of the recent floods, the system was able to add more schools.
KATC-TV reports no action is required by parents; students will be able to participate in the meal program without having to pay a fee or submit an application.
However, prior student meal charges will not be forgiven. Parents/guardians are still responsible for any breakfast/lunch debt incurred before Nov. 1.
