BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A 9-year-old is being called a hero after she called 911 when her bus driver suddenly became ill and slumped over the wheel.

The bus was making its final stop on its route and had only a few students inside when Addison Hutchinson, a Mojave Unified School student, noticed something was wrong.

"She was just hunched over the wheel squeezing it and she was sweating," Addison told KERO.

The 4th grader ran home from the bus and called 911 from a cell phone. She then ran back to the bus, staying with the driver until help arrived.

The driver was taken to a local hospital for a non life-threatening illness.
