3 new charges against man accused of killing state trooper
LAKE CHARLES- Louisiana authorities say a man accused of killing a state trooper is now implicated in the death of another man.
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office says Kevin Daigle was booked Wednesday with second-degree murder in the death of 54-year-old Blake Brewer of Moss Bluff.
A news release says investigators believe the same shotgun was used to kill both Brewer and Senior Trooper Steven Vincent.
Daigle also was booked with stealing the truck that he had run into a ditch before Vincent found him Sunday, and with possessing a firearm after a felony conviction.
Judge David Ritchie set bond on the new charges at more than $1.6 million.
Authorities say the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab will test the shotgun.
