2 arrests made in Paincourtville gun thefts

PAINCOURTVILLE - Sheriff's deputies in Assumption Parish reported two arrests Monday in connection with gun thefts from a hardware store in Paincourtville.

Warrants were issued for two men accused of stealing guns from Sagona's True Value Hardware store on the 6100 block of LA Hwy 1 on Friday with one of the suspects, 20-year-old Jeremiah White, arrested the same day.

The second man wanted in connection with the gun thefts, 20-year-old Kez Gipson, turned himself in to deputies in Assumption Parish on Sunday.

White and Gipson were booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on a charge of simple burglary each.

Deputies said the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information concerning the burglary is urged to contact the APSO Criminal Investigative Division at (985) 526-1627.
