19-year-old killed in crash near Ascension Parish line
DONALDSONVILLE - State police are investigating a crash that killed a 19-year-old Luling man on LA 3127 near the Ascension Parish Line Friday.
Troopers say 19-year-old Erskine Webster was driving south on LA 3127 when he tried to pass several vehicles in the rain around 5:30 in the afternoon. Investigators say, at the same time, a truck belonging to Anthony Abadie, 51, of Reserve, was approaching Webster in the northbound lane. Troopers say Webster lost control of his car, started to spin clockwise and was hit by Abadie's truck on the driver's side.
State police say both drivers were wearing seatbelts. Abadie was taken to a nearby hospital, but Webster was pronounced dead at the scene according to the crash report.
Investigators say impairment is unknown at the time, but results of routine toxicology test are pending for Webster.
