18-wheeler crash causes night-long I-10 closure
UPDATE - I-10 was opened at 3 am.
WHISKEY BAY - An interstate closure lingered into late Friday night and could last until early Saturday morning after multiple 18-wheelers wrecked earlier in the day.
I-10 West closed shortly before 6 p.m. at Whiskey Bay on the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge. State Police reported it remained closed as late as 11, and would likely remain closed well into the night.
LA DOTD reported via Twitter that congestion related to the crash had backed up for ten miles at one point.
Motorists were advised to use US 190 West as an alternate route.
