EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH - Friends of the Baton Rouge Zoo are to hold their 11th annual Zoo Run Run 5K and 1/2 Mile Fun Run late this month.

The adult 5K race and the children’s fun run will take place inside the Zoo on Saturday, Aug. 27 with registration starting at 6:30 a.m.

Online registration can be completed at www.brzoo.org, at Varsity Sports during the early packet pick-up on the Friday before the race or at the zoo on the day of the race. Pre-registration for adults is $25 and race day registration is $30. Children aged 12 and under may pre-register for $12 or register the day of the race for $17. Prizes will be awarded to first male and female and in age group categories.

“This is a great event for the whole family, whether you’re competitive runners or just looking for an opportunity to get outside,” said Phil Frost, Zoo Director. “There’s not another race in town where you’ll get the opportunity to run by wild animals ranging from cheetahs to bears to hippos!”

All proceeds generated will go to BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo and its conservation efforts for threatened and endangered animals, especially the cheetah population.
