Work on Pecue Lane still two years off

BATON ROUGE - Transportation leaders say it will be at least two years before construction begins on improvements for Pecue Lane at I-10.

The project will widen Pecue and add an interchange to the location. Engineers are about halfway through studying the environmental impacts.

People living in the area told News 2 whenever things get started, they're ready for it.

"Right now it's very hard to get to the interstate from this area," said John Zachary, who lives in the area. "You either have to back track to Highland Road or you have to drive down the parking lot that is Siegen Lane."

The project has been in the works for seven years and is expected to cost $45 million, but no money has been allocated for the project yet.
