Wild goose chase

DONALDSONVILLE- A goose that's made it's home on Bayou Lafourche is in need of desperate help and one woman is working hard to save it's life.

Alice Lewis Dimm, who lives in Donaldsonville, feeds the domestic-hybrid geese every day, but it was just a few weeks ago she noticed something was afoul.

"The one that lagged behind I noticed she was hurt, she was limping, when she got closer to me, I noticed the fishing line around her leg, really, really bad," said Dimm.

The goose has fishing line wrapped around its left foot, so much that it's cut into the bird's leg, enlarging its foot.

Several other residents have noticed the bird and want to help.

"I was sad about the poor goose, so I tried to feed food to it, but all the other geese kept taking it," said 6-year old Brenden Campo.

Dimm is hoping someone with bird expertise can help her capture the goose so she can take it to the vet.

LSU has offered to treat the bird, if it's captured, but until then, Dimm hopes to keep feeding the flock and crossing her fingers that this won't turn into a wild goose chase.
