Victim cries as verdict read in Church trial
LIVINGSTON - Tears of happiness fell from the 13-year-old victim's face today as jurors found the former fire chief accused of texting and having sex with her guilty of indecent behavior charges.
The six-member jury took an hour to find Franklin Dale Church guilty of all nine charges on indecent behavior with juveniles.
Church was accused of texting inappropriate pictures and messages to the teen victim, who also testified he would get her drunk, tie her down with dog collars, and have sex with her.
Prosecutors said they're happy with the verdict.
"I really feel like this guy is a predator and has been a predator for several years. We don't have to worry about that anymore. He's not going to be able to molest or hurt girls anymore," said Charlotte Hebert.
Church will be sentenced on June 22. He could face up to 63 years in prison.
