Used travel trailer buyers aren't getting their titles
HOLDEN - Some FEMA trailer buyers are left in limbo, either with no title or no trailer in their possession.
Hood Motorsports has hundreds of trailers, once owned by FEMA, that are now being sold by a private dealer in Livingston Parish.
James Weinberg said he's been trying to get his trailer from Hood Motorsports for a month.
"Now that I've paid for it, he won't let me pick it up and can't find the title for it now," said Weinberg.
Weinberg is one of six customers who filed a complaint with the Louisiana Used Motor Vehicle Commission. The commission found out, Hood Motorsports was operating without a valid license, and ordered a cease and desist on the business.
David Hood with Hood Motorsports said the titles are being delayed by a lien holder, but he said customers will get both their titles and trailers.
The commission board will review the license and complaints on Monday. The board will decide if and when Hood Motorsports can renew its license and if the company will owe any fines for the complaints.
