U High Cubs fall in state title tilt
NEW ORLEANS - The John Curtis Patriots captured the Division II high school football championship with a shutout victory over the U-High Cubs in New Orleans.
With one minute remaining in the game, John Curtis broke through for a 79-yard touchdown run to put finishing touches on a 32-0 victory.
With 8:38 remaining in the fourth, John Curtis scored on a 3-yard TD run to make the score 25-0.
During the third quarter, a bad snap on a punt attempt forced a turnover on downs to give John Curtis the ball at the U-High 3-yard line. They converted for a TD two plays later to go up 19-0.
Curtis converted all 13 of its first half points in the second quarter, including a 12-yard TD pass as time expired.
