Tuesday's ribbon-cutting ceremony marks official opening of water campus

BATON ROUGE- Governor John Bel Edwards hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a portion of the new water campus in downtown Baton Rouge.
The ceremony is for the Center of Coastal and Deltaic Solutions. The urban water campus is developing right along River Road - its year-and-a-half design is still under construction, and officials say the first and second floors will be for water science and research.
The event also celebrated another element of the 34,000 square foot facility. Many state leaders say the project is significant to conserving Louisiana's disappearing wetlands.
This new construction features public spaces to take-in views of the river, conference areas for conventions, and research spaces for the facility based inside the building.
It's a place meant to inspire innovation.
