Trevor Sims's birthday party
BATON ROUGE - The 11-year-old who helped raise thousands of dollars and donations for the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank while fighting his own battle with cancer, has passed away.
Trevor Sims died this morning at his home, after spending some time in the hospital. He had battled a disease known as RMS for five years.
Last month, he spearheaded a citywide food drive to help fill empty shelves at the food bank.
WBRZ featured Sims in multiple segments of "2 Make A Difference" for his efforts to help those in need in the midst of his own struggles with a terminal diagnosis.
He told News 2 that his one wish was to feed the hungry.
We'll have more on Trevor's life and legacy beginning at noon and later today on our evening broadcasts.
