The Green Army
BATON ROUGE- The legislative session is coming up, and on its agenda: budget cuts, Common Core, and the Louisiana environment.
The Green Army is getting ready for the session as well; they're planning a big rally this weekend in downtown Baton Rouge. This morning, Lieutenant General Russel Honoré stopped by 2une In to tell us more about the rally.
The Green Army knows that there are a lot of difficult subjects on the agenda for the upcoming legislative session, but they don't want environmental issues to fall by the wayside.
"They understand that at the end of the day they're accountable to their community for clean air and clean water," says General Honoré .
The Green Army is introducing three bills in the upcoming session, one of which deals with keeping the air clean.
"We have over 100 chemical plants between here and New Orleans," General Honoré told News 2's John Pastorek. "We have to have 21st century air control."
The clean air bill aims to keep the public informed about everything happening at chemical plants, so everyone is prepared for emergencies.
The Green Army will be holding their rally on the State Capitol steps this Saturday, from noon to 3 p.m.
