ROBERT - Help arrived Tuesday in Tangipahoa Parish, and a new relief effort will begin Wednesday morning.

An estimated 2,000 home were damaged by water in the southern end of Tangipahoa Parish alone. Some of those homes were inundated with several feet of water. Homeowners now have help in the days of clean-up ahead.

A convoy of supplies arrived in Robert following a day on the road. Operation Blessing is one of many relief services finding themselves in Louisiana following historic flooding.

Starting Wednesday, a group of volunteers equipped with a list of people in need will begin assisting flood victims in the recovery process.

Pastor Lewis Husser of Crossgate Church has worked with Operation Blessing before. His church is hosting the team this trip.

"We need those volunteers," he told News 2's Brett Buffington. "They're the ones who are the boots on the ground. They're the ones with the people who are hurting the most, and we need a lot more volunteers."

The goal is to have somewhere around 100 people helping out each day.

To help, simply meet at Crossgate Church 22494 Highway 190 West Robert, LA 70455. For more information, you can also contact Operation Blessing at (757) 374-0944.

The Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Group is also in Tangipahoa Parish. They are getting list of people in need from the Tangipahoa Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness.
