BATON ROUGE - Hundreds of shoppers are out before Thanksgiving, and the stores are getting ready for Black Friday.

Some shoppers say they're trying to get in before the crowds, while others are shopping now so it wont interfere with watching football.

"We're going to the LSU game, that's my first LSU game so I'd rather be there than Black Friday shopping you know, so I'll get it out of the way now," said Jaelon Albert.

For Black Friday and Thanksgiving Day shopping at the Mall of Louisiana, 40 percent of the shops open Thursday at 8 p.m. Mall officials said more than 100 stores will be open by midnight. They will also have extra security around, to keep things from getting out of hand.

"We're staying up all night long, my daughter didn't go to bed until 4 o'clock this morning. We had our Thanksgiving last week so that we could stay up all tomorrow and all tomorrow night, getting ready for Black Friday. We're excited," said Cleo McDonald, owner of Ribbons and Bows.

At the Cortana Mall, the major department stores are opening at 8, Thanksgiving night. Cortana is expecting to have about 40 stores open by midnight and the entire mall will be fully open by 6am Friday.
