St. Vincent de Paul Christmas
BATON ROUGE - St. Vincent de Paul served around eight hundred meals on Christmas.
Nearly 200 volunteers showed up to help pass out gifts to adults and children in addition to serving people.
"It's nice. It's good that they did that for us. For everybody...so everybody could eat. Some of them probably don't have a place to eat so they come here," said Demeshay Taplin, who was a guest at the dinner. It was Taplin's first time being a part of the annual tradition.
Volunteers who were there served people with excited faces, eager to pass along the next plate of food.
"Well it makes me feel like I am living on purpose and helping other people out that are in need," said Carey Willliams, a volunteer for the past 6 years.
