St. Helena Parish getting rid of debris
GREENSBURG - A former school is the backdrop of Hurricane Isaac debris removal in Saint Helena Parish.
The public works department started hauling the trash to a vacant school lot on Fifth Ward Road, far away from residents, where it will be burned.
The parish had to act quickly or lose FEMA money to get rid of the debris. People in the parish say it's about time.
"It makes me upset that we still have it there and nothing has been done with it but now we're getting it done," said Kelsey Williams.
The parish starts burning the debris Saturday.
