St. Gabriel shooting blamed on jealous ex
ST. GABRIEL- Two men are in jail after police say they ambushed another pair of men at their St. Gabriel home.
Police arrested Keith Johnson and Gabriel King in connection with the Monday night shooting. Investigators said the men knocked on the door and then waited in some nearby bushes until the victims came outside.
"We got to the scene and they were pulling them out the house and put him in the ambulance," said Ronald Bideau, one of the victim's cousins.
Chief Kevin Ambeau says Johnson targeted his victim because he was dating his ex-girlfriend. After the shooting, the suspects tried to get away but ran into a problem.
"His car wouldn't start, so he kind of ran around the area," said Ambeau. "We had a couple calls, a couple of witnesses that ID'd him, they had taken off their clothes and we found them hidden behind the apartment."
The two victims are expected to be okay. Chief Ambeau says this is the first violent shooting in St. Gabriel in six years.
