Sports2-a-Days Preview: Livonia Wildcats

BATON ROUGE, LA - The Livonia Wildcats are looking for a rebound season in 2018 after missing the 4A playoffs a season ago. Last year Marc Brown's team had a flat tire out of the gate dropping six of their first seven games including a six-game losing streak.

"A 3-7 season taught us a lot of about what we need to do to be successful," said Brown. "So, it's really been a breathe of fresh air how they've been working together. I'm really really pleased with how they've been going about their business."

The attitude and camaraderie has lit a fire in the seniors who are ready to bring back a winning tradition to Livonia. Not long ago in 2014, the Wildcats endured a 15-0 season.

Offensively Livonia returns five players back on offense including senior quarterback Kerri Wells. The duel-threat QB has quick feet and the ability to escape the pocket and throw on the run. He'll have a pretty nice combo in the back-field with running backs Jordan Bailey and Charles Harris set to take on the majority of the work load.

On the opposite side of the ball, Livonia returns nine guys on defense. The biggest problem will be depth on both lines.

"I think we may have some two-way guys there," said Brown. Other than that, I think it's depth. But, strength and conditioning will take care of that and we'll go far with it."
The Wildcats will open their season August 24 against Port Allen.
