Southern Board approves Odums as next head coach
BATON ROUGE - Dawson Odums has been recommended to be the new head football coach at Southern University.
The university's Board of Supervisors approved the decision today to offer Odums the head coach position.
The decision comes after a national coaching search was conducted immediately following the Jaguars' 38-33 victory over Grambling State in the 39th annual Bayou Classic, stopping a run of four straight wins over Southern.
Odums went 4-5 as interim head coach this year, after former head coach Stump Mitchell was reassigned after the second game of the year.
