Southern anti-violence march
BATON ROUGE - Students and community members marched together at Southern University tonight in a show of solidarity against violence in the city.
Southern University's Black History Club, Criminal Justice Club, NCAAP and Student Government Association hosted the "Stop the Violence March."
The march comes one year after Trayvon Martin was killed in his Florida neighborhood while walking home from a convenience store. George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch member on trial for his shooting, claims he thought he was armed and shot him in self-defense.
Students also gathered after the march for a candlelight vigil in Martin's memory at the at the Southern University Law Center.
