'Sons of Guns' reality TV star Will Hayden back in court
LIVINGSTON - Former reality television star Will Hayden from "Sons of Guns" was back in court Thursday to face rape charges in Livingston Parish.
When asked if he had anything to say on his way to court Thursday morning, Hayden simply said "no" while shackled and dressed in an orange jumpsuit.
His attorney, Dede Ferrara, asked for Judge Robert Morrison to add certain information into the court record as she prepares for trial. However, Assistant District Attorney David Guidry believes some of that is not relevant to the case in Livingston Parish.
"My intention is completely to protect the victim," he said. "I don't want to turn over anything that I don't have to under the law that would expose this victim to any additional information being provided about her that I think other people, it's none of their business actually."
The judge denied several requests from Ferrara but did ask prosecutors to hand over a medical exam of the victim and a recorded interview.
Hayden is accused of sexually abusing an 11-year-old girl in both Livingston and East Baton Rouge parishes. He also faces accusations from another alleged victim from an incident 20 years ago. Both cases are moving through the court systems at the same time.
Hayden was indicted and has been charged a total of three counts of aggravated rape, two in East Baton Rouge Parish and one in Livingston Parish. By law, an aggravated rape conviction in Louisiana carries a mandatory life sentence.
While Ferrara declined to do an interview, Guidry says Hayden could go to trial as early as October. Hayden has a July 21 court date in East Baton Rouge for a status update.
