Slaughter's running again
PORT ALLEN - Former mayor Deedy Slaughter filed campaign paperwork to run for mayor again, but refused to talk about her decision to WBRZ News 2 Friday, instead she called police when representatives of the station knocked on the door of her house.
Port Allen voters recalled Slaughter in November.
Some voters find her re-election effort comical.
"Kind of amazed that someone that just got kicked out of office would run again," laughed Thomas Cook. "But that's people I guess."
Others want the polarizing mayor back.
"I know she will win," Ashton Williams said. "Because she's a good woman. She knows what she's doing, and the community loves her."
The general election is in April.
Slaughter is up against Kirby "Mr. A" Anderson, Larry Bell, Leon Goudeau and Richard Lee.
