Shoppers skip turkey to beat Black Friday crowds

BATON ROUGE - Lines for Black Friday deals are already getting long outside of some stores in Baton Rouge.

Blake Sparrow and his buddies are first in line at Best Buy, putting their tent up last week. And they're not giving up for anything, not even Thanksgiving.

"We've been out here since Sunday," said Sparrow. "We got an generators and televisions. It's not like we have it rough out here."

They'e not alone. News 2 spotted several people camping outside the store.

Earl Bajoie says, "The deals are too great to pass up. I figured this is as good a time as any to see what Black Friday's all about.

What it's about is shoppers trying to get their hands on those Black Friday bargains. Most than 50 million people nationwide are expected to hit the stores for doorbuster deals.

"I mean it's Thanksgiving, I'd rather be home with my family," said Sparrow, "but a lot of things I'm buying are Christmas gifts for them anyways."

Deals are great but what about turkey, yams and dressing?

"Well a lot of people said they would come and bring us something to eat," said Bajoie, "but if not we'll go out and get something. We'll make it."
