Sheriff's office investigating teen shot in New Roads
NEW ROADS - Deputies said a 16-year-old was shot multiple times Friday evening in Pointe Coupee Parish, and they're looking for the person responsible.
The sheriff's office said the shooting happened around 4 p.m. on St. Anthony Street in New Roads. The teen who was shot is in serious condition at a Baton Rouge hospital.
According to investigators, the teen was with others in a vehicle which turned into a driveway on St. Anthony when the teen jumped out of the vehicle and was shot while running. Deputies said they didn't know if they had been driving to the specific house they stopped at.
Sheriff's deputies said they're looking for a tan or beige colored SUV which was seen in the area when the shooting happened. Investigators said they also have some suspects identified and are working leads to locate them at this time.
