Sex offender dodging deputies in Ascension
GONZALES - Raymond Perry, 21, is wanted by Ascension Parish deputies for failing to register as a sex offender after his initial registration lapsed.
He originally registered at 211 E. Freddie Street in Gonzales, but hasn't been seen there in months.
"He failed to show up in this office, so our guys went out on the street to locate him, therefore he will be sought out and arrested when he's found," said Lt. Col. Bobby Webre, with the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office.
Deputies don't wait until an offender slips up, though. The sheriff's task force for sex offenders regularly checks in on the 117 offenders in the parish at least twice a week.
"We will actually go to their physical location and look at them in their residence, we'll look at their mode of transportation, we'll ask a litany of questions about what you've been doing since your last check," said Webre.
When caught, Perry faces an additional two to ten years in jail for failing to register.
