Senator responds to road rage allegations

BATON ROUGE - A driver in Baton Rouge claims a state senator threatened her with arrest during an incident last week.

Haley Nobles told News 2 Senator Troy Brown got out of his car and made the threat after she honked at him for cutting her off. She said the incident left her terrified.

"He gets out of his car, walks up to me, pulls out a badge and says you don't know who I am. You don't know what I could do. I can have you arrested," Nobles told News 2.

Senator Brown declined to do an on-camera interview about the Jan. 3 altercation. He did tell News 2 that he flashed his ID and a badge at a woman who he claims was driving erratically, but said he never threatened them with arrest.

A sheriff's office spokesperson said it appears no laws were broken, but an investigation into the matter continues. Calls to the Senate's sergeant at arms to ask about lawmaker badge protocols were not returned.

Nobles said she believes Brown abused his authority, and owes her an apology.

"I was threatened," she said. "You can't threaten people and expect to get away with it."
