Seminar on fake marijuana scheduled for this weekend

BATON ROUGE- This weekend the East Baton Rouge coroner will be speaking at the U.S.S. Kidd about the dangers of fake marijuana. Dr. Beau Clark will be addressing the public about the many misconceptions surrounding the drug.

Fake marijuana drugs like "Mojo" were originally created in hopes of creating a pill form of marijuana. The effort was aimed at helping Glaucoma patients, stimulating appetites, or helping to reduce nausea.

The drugs on the market today are constantly being altered to stay ahead of the legal system. Law enforcement and health officials say there's no way of being positive what you're putting in your body is safe.

Dr. Clark will be holding an educational seminar titled "Fake Pot, Real Dangers" on Saturday at the U.S.S. Kidd in Baton Rouge. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

If you need help for someone who is addicted to this drug, Dr. Clark says to contact Capital Area Human Services.
