Second dead horse found this week
BAKER - East Baton Rouge Animal Control is investigating the second horse found dumped since Monday in the parish.
The horse was found on Heck Young Road in Baker on Tuesday. The day before, Metro Airport police found a dead horse on their property off Blount Road near Plank Road.
The horse had been hog-tied with a tow strap, the other end connected to a concrete barrier, then yanked off a trailer and left.
Investigators found a tracking chip which brought them to the original owner in Tangipahoa Parish.
"They said they had sold the animal," EBR Animal Control Director Hilton Cole said.
A witness provided investigators with a description of the vehicle and trailer which dumped the horse.
"It was described as a red, newer-model dually with a white, air-conditioned horse trailer," Cole said.
The second horse was tied with a strap similar to one used on Blount Road two days ago, but Cole said he doesn't think the two are connected.
