PRAIRIEVILLE - Sheriff's deputies in Ascension Parish said they arrested an 18-year-old man and two juveniles in connection with vandalism at Galvez Middle School that happened on Tuesday and Wednesday night.
Johnnie Balfantz with Ascension Parish Schools called the situation "very random and very strange. They obviously targeted the school, but there doesn't seem to be any logic or reason behind things that they did."
Dozens of broken windows and paint splattered on floors and windows are included in the damage. Workers cleaned almost everything except for at least one classroom, covered in white dust, from a fire extinguisher.
"A lot of the damage was that type of damage," said Balfantz. "Wall, floor, things that we can repair."
Deputies conducted foot patrols at the school Wednesday after vandals hit the school Tuesday. During the patrol, deputies said they arrested Khrystopher Landix, 18, of Prairieville and booked him on charges of three counts of simple burglary, 37 counts of simple criminal damage to property, seven counts of criminal mischief and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
A 14-year-old juvenile and a 12-year-old juvenile were also arrested and each charged with three counts of burglary, 33 counts of damage to property and three counts of criminal mischief, according to law enforcement.
18-year-old Landix was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail, and the juveniles were booked into Assumption Youth Detention Center.
Bond has not yet been set for Landix.
