Santa exercises his 2nd amendment rights

BATON ROUGE - Santa Claus exercised his second amendment rights this year, dropping off hundreds of new guns and accessories to the good boys and girls of south Louisiana.

It's why gun retailers prepared for a rush today as people were ready to spend Christmas money and deck out their new weapons.

"We see a lot of first time shooters, a lot of repeat customers, you see a lot of people that got rifles for Christmas so they come in to get accessories, ammunition, getting scopes put on guns ready for hunting season," said Jared Duet, a gun retailer.

Some people even traveled from out of town, not just for a family visit.

"I'm here now because you guys take the Sportsman's Paradise more seriously than other people do. More willing to work with you. Stuff is cheaper here. They make it easy," said Michael Smith, who was visiting from Memphis.

Retailers said ammo should be plentiful as many worked hard to ensure the most popular calibers were in stock.
