Reserving BCS National Championship tickets

Related Story

BATON ROUGE - With the BCS National Championship game 41 days away, regardless of what happens this weekend in Atlanta, many LSU fans are shelling out hundreds or thousands of dollars just to reserve tickets to the game.

The 2012 Allstate BCS National Championship committee is offering fans reservations for face value tickets to the game.

Last February, the "bidding" opened and fans from any university were given the opportunity to bid on a reservation for their school being in the championship game.

The reservations are non-refundable, and if your team makes it, you are guaranteed a face-value ticket.

Since LSU beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa earlier this month, the prices fans are paying for reservations alone has shot up by $700 to $800, and are continuing to climb.

Fans that already purchased their reservations were happy they got in early enough to avoid spending thousands of dollars. Others said they were more comfortable spending a little more to buy official tickets from the event organizer, rather than dealing with scalpers.
