Republicans unite to support Cassidy in Baton Rouge
BATON ROUGE - Republican Congressman Bill Cassidy is getting some help in his seat from both local and national GOP leaders in his quest to unseat Democratic Senator Mary Landrieu.
One of the noteworthy guests at today's Republican Unity Rally: Former Senatorial candidate Rob Maness. The Tea Party favorite finished third in the November 4th election. After spending the last few months bashing Cassidy, Maness will endorse him later today.
Governor Bobby Jindal is also expected to be in attendance. He remained quiet leading up to last week's election, before endorsing Cassidy late last week.
Senator David Vitter, Senator and Presidential-hopeful Rand Paul (R-Kentucky), Sen. Elbert Guillory and Garret Graves are among the others in attendance. Graves, a former coastal restoration official, is in a runoff with Edwin Edwards for the 6th Congressional District seat. That's the spot Cassidy vacated to challenge Landrieu.
The Republican Unity Rally is today at 12:30 p.m. at Huey's Bar in downtown Baton Rouge.
All runoffs will be decided with the December 6th election.
