Red Cross helps storm victims in Livingston

LIVINGSTON - Volunteers continue to help out storm victims in the town of Livingston after an EF-2 tornado ripped through the town last Tuesday.

So far, the American Red Cross has handed out more than 500 meals and more than 1,000 items like cleaning supplies and gloves, according to Red Cross Public Affairs Director Nancy Malone.

"It's hard when you're in the midst of all this chaos, and when tornadoes have come through and really damaged your home at that level of destruction," she said. "It's hard to see the incremental progress that they're making everyday, and we're able to see that."

Right after the storm volunteers, neighbors and family members provided a helping hand in Livingston. That has continued on a week later.

"I wish this would happen all over the country, but it happens in a small town. It makes me proud to be their mayor," said Livingston Mayor Derral Jones.

The Red Cross plans to continue helping storm victims on the road to recovery.
