BATON ROUGE- Prominent Baton Rouge lawyer Nathan Fisher died overnight. He was 72 years old.

Fisher was well known in the community for his role in representing LSU players when they got into trouble. Most notably, he represented Jordan Jefferson in 2011, after a bar fight outside Shady's Bar.

In 2007, Fisher represented Ryan Perrilloux after he got into a fight outside the Varsity.

"Not many people know this, but he represented college students pro bono, including the athletes," Ari Fisher, Nathan Fisher's son said. "Since 1975, he represented over 100."

Fisher was well known for his dress. He wore a bow tie everyday and had more than 50 in his wardrobe, according to family members.

"His dress, the clothes he wore, he would always brighten up a room," District attorney Hillar Moore said. "He always fought hard for his client."

The family said he had a passion for law and a love of sports.

"He never broke any ethical code during his time," Fisher said. "He represented people with vigor, and he was very attentive to all details."

Family members said Fisher died of complications from heart issues and cancer. A service will be held at 2pm sharp on Friday, January 16 at Beth Shalom Synogogue which is located at 9111 Jefferson Highway. A procession to the Jewish Cemetery off of Florida Boulevard will immediately follow.
