Program brings natives home for work
BATON ROUGE- There's action to end the brain drain in Louisiana with a call for people from Baton Rouge to come home for jobs.
The Baton Rouge Area Chamber of Commerce is trying to link them with good paying careers.
"The ones who maybe went to high school here, went to LSU or Southern, then left the state and want to come back to Baton Rouge," said Julie Laperouse with BRAC.
The group used those alma maters to spread the word about mid to senior level jobs in the region. But, they have to combat perceptions that good paying jobs don't exist for everyone.
"And we are having a lot of those conversations with employers, just letting them know what their applicants are coming from, the environments that they're coming from, the type of compensation packages that they're having," Laperouse said.
BRAC wants to stop talent from leaving as well as bring talent home. To visit the site and learn more, click this link.
