Preparing for Tropical Storm Karen
BATON ROUGE- Much of the Gulf Coast is watching carefully as Tropical Storm Karen nears.
The Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness is currently evaluating to see what type of response may be needed. GOHSEP has a close eye on the tropical storm and has crews in place ready to roll when needed.
The director says you should never underestimate a storm, and it's always better to be safe than sorry.
"You just never know," said GOHSEP Director Kevin Davis. "We try to look at what happened at the last storm and compare to this storm. Every one is different."
Governor Jindal issued a state of emergency for Louisiana Friday. It gives state agencies quicker access to funds they need to respond.
