Possible grave sites examined in Shunick search
OPELOUSAS- A tip call lead investigators to a site near the Swords community in Saint Landry Parish. Investigators found no new information in the search for Mickey Shunick.
A farmer reported seeing something that looked like a shallow grave. Authorities checked the site but found nothing. They also checked two similar spots near the first location.
Saint Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz say the mounds looked like graves but the root system indicates there was no human activity. He says wildlife may have caused the mounds.
The site is located about one mile from Brandon Lavergne's home. He was arrested last week in connection with Schunick's murder. Shunick went missing May 19th. Her body has not been found. Volunteers are still hopeful the UL Lafayette student will be found alive.
