Police warn of rapist in Baton Rouge
BATON ROUGE- Police say two women, one who was raped at knifepoint and another who was grabbed from behind and choked, gave similar descriptions of their attacker.
Police describe the rapist as a Hispanic man who speaks broken English, in his mid-20's, medium build, and stands five-foot five-inches to five-foot eight-inches tall. One of the victims told police he might have been driving an older model, maroon or red four-door car.
The most recent attack happened Tuesday around 3 a.m. at an apartment complex on Stanford Avenue. The victim told police the suspect approached her as she was entering her apartment. He asked for a glass of water and to use her phone before forcing his way inside and raping her at knifepoint.
The first attack happened a week ago at 2:45 a.m. at an apartment complex on Lee Drive. According to police, the suspect approached the victim, who was locked out of her apartment, and asked to use her phone. She agreed, and after returning the phone the suspect walked away. Several minutes later someone grabbed her from behind and choked her and threatened to kill her is she made a sound. The victim began screaming and the suspect ran away.
Police urge young women, especially in the LSU area, to protect themselves by being aware of their surroundings and not being outside along late at night. Police also encourage people to keep their doors and windows locked and to be wary of anyone who approaches and asks to use a phone or similar request.
