BATON ROUGE - A month-long undercover investigation involving heroin ended with the arrest of six people.

The FBI, District Attorney Hillar Moore, East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office and Baton Rouge Police were involved in the joint investigation, which included wire taps to track the suspects' activity.

"They are middle- to high-level dealers, in Baton Rouge, of heroin," Moore said during a press conference Monday.

Police conducted four search warrants and seized 31 packs of heroin, 90 dosages of Roxicodone, four firearms, a car and more than $50,000. They said the operation sold drugs out of several homes across Baton Rouge and a business on Greenwell Springs Rd. called Urban Imaging/Dope Man Entertainment.

Moore highlighted Christopher Varnado, 31, and Dearcy Robertson, 24, as the leaders of heroin distribution. Their charges include racketeering, distribution of heroin and roxicodone, and conspiracy to distribute.

Varnado's bond is set at $350,000 with a hold. He's served time in Texas for aggravated assault.

Police also arrested Ronza Robertson, 33, Kenneth Robertson, 27, Marlene Varnado, 51, and Lakota Edwards, 19, for their involvement in the distribution of drugs.
