Police ID suspects in child's disappearance; one has prior charges
BATON ROUGE - Police released the names of two people charged with kidnapping a murdered woman's child.
Late Wednesday, police identified the suspects as Curtis King, 24, and Daaria Thomas, 22, of Baton Rouge. In addition to the aggravated kidnapping charges, the pair also face possession with intent to distribute drugs.
Police questioned the pair all day Wednesday.
Investigators said King took A'Kyleana Latham from her home early Saturday morning, and took her to the apartment he shares with Thomas. Hours later, the child's mother, Taylor, was shot and killed inside her car in her driveway on Louisiana Avenue. Her body was not discovered until Monday night.
Police said King and Thomas left the child at the Women's Help Center on Scenic Highway around lunchtime Tuesday.
In May 2013, King was the focus of an investigation after his month-old son, Aiden, was burned with hot water and died a few months later. In November 2013, King was charged with murder and cruelty to a juvenile and is out on bond currently awaiting trial.
Police are still investigation the shooting death of Taylor Latham.
