Passing the Flag 2015
BATON ROUGE- The Nation of Patriots is hosting its sixth annual Passing the Flag Event this weekend as part of the nation-wide Patriot Tour.
The Patriot Tour follows an American flag during its 14,000 mile journey through 48 states. The entire tour takes about 100 days to complete and is meant to honor America's past, present and fallen Armed Forces personnel.
The flag is moved throughout the country by motorcycle enthusiasts, doing their part to support our troops.
The Nation of Patriots is an organization dedicated to financially supporting families of wounded veterans. All donations collected locally are given to Louisiana veterans.
Last year's Passing the Flag was attended by about 400 people, and the group is hoping to beat that this year. It will be a full military honors event, and will have members from each branch of military. It will feature a guest speech from Baton Rouge Mayor, Kip Holden.
Contestants from this year's Miss USA Pageant will also be at the event assisting with the fundraising efforts.
The ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 4th at the USS Kidd Veterans Museum in Baton Rouge. You can find out more about the Nation of Patriots and their Patriot Tour here.
